00:00:40.956 --> 00:00:49.206
Merrill's an accredited, certified EFT practitioner and law of attraction lover helping you heal from your past.

She loves facilitating her clients through deep healing and transformation of their inner critic and inner child.
00:01:05.725 --> 00:01:13.748
She was an accounting professional and turned nail salon owner, and now EFT tapping coach using her fingers all along the way.
00:01:13.897 --> 00:01:24.049
She's been on a lifelong journey of healing herself and found EFT and law of attraction to be the catalyst, which helped her quantum leap her results faster than anything.
00:01:24.049 --> 00:01:26.930
And it's her mission to share it with the world.
00:01:27.230 --> 00:01:33.079
She loves speaking and sharing her story with samplings of EFT at wellness events or on podcasts.
00:01:33.182 --> 00:01:34.682
And here she is on our podcast.
00:01:34.682 --> 00:01:35.311
Welcome Meryl.
00:01:35.311 --> 00:01:36.871
Thanks for coming and joining us.
00:01:37.171 --> 00:01:37.591
Thank you.
00:01:37.591 --> 00:01:38.462
Thanks for having me.
00:01:38.762 --> 00:01:39.632
Yeah, I'm really excited.
00:01:39.632 --> 00:01:41.042
And you are another Jersey girl.
00:01:41.341 --> 00:01:42.121
Yes, I am.
00:01:42.322 --> 00:01:45.376
I've been very excited to have my Jersey girls along with me.
00:01:45.447 --> 00:01:53.593
So yeah, we're gonna get into it because I learned about EFT 10, 12 years ago, but there's a lot of people out there who still don't know what EFT is.
00:01:53.894 --> 00:01:56.534
So could you tell them what it is?
00:01:56.686 --> 00:01:57.406
Absolutely.
00:01:57.706 --> 00:02:02.177
So EFT means emotional freedom technique, or also known as tapping.
00:02:02.477 --> 00:02:16.508
And it's very similar to how an acupuncturist would use needles in your Chinese energy Meridian points to promote healing from within, to shift your energy to elevate your mood or your body heal in any way possible.
00:02:16.568 --> 00:02:21.579
It's the same thing, but we're using our fingertips instead to tap on certain points.
00:02:21.584 --> 00:02:24.318
We don't tap on the entire body necessarily.
00:02:24.318 --> 00:02:32.820
There's 300 points, but we typically use what's called the basic recipe which is side of the hand there's points on the face, under the collarbone and under the arm.
00:02:32.820 --> 00:02:50.884
And pretty much I'm your detective and guide helping you to use EFT together with me to remove emotional clutter, that's in your way to getting to the goals that you want; your relationship goals, your health goals, your career goals, your money goals, whatever they are.
00:02:50.884 --> 00:02:51.735
That's my niche.
00:02:51.790 --> 00:02:53.350
You can use this for anything.
00:02:53.355 --> 00:02:55.371
You can use it for chronic pain illness.
00:02:55.371 --> 00:03:00.010
And what I love to use it for is helping people to self regulate.
00:03:00.062 --> 00:03:09.098
If you are someone that has a lot of anxiety and you're in your head overthinking and overwhelmed, and you're not really able to shut that down.
00:03:09.397 --> 00:03:12.728
EFT is an incredible tool for that.
00:03:12.733 --> 00:03:16.478
And you end up getting long lasting, permanent results.
00:03:16.478 --> 00:03:21.487
It's not something that you're gonna have to do necessarily every day, all day for the rest of your life.
00:03:21.701 --> 00:03:28.777
The other great part of using this modality is that we can help to heal your past.
00:03:28.867 --> 00:03:35.390
So mother wound, inner child wounds, traumatic events from your past, all sorts of stuff.
00:03:35.691 --> 00:03:48.271
And one of the beautiful processes that I love is self-compassion tapping, which is helping you to merge your wounded, inner child with your now mature intellectual adult self.
00:03:48.572 --> 00:03:57.956
So that merge brings in incredible confidence and safety into your body that you might not have had growing up.
00:03:58.007 --> 00:04:04.606
All of my clients have something from their past, that energy is still stuck in their system.
00:04:04.907 --> 00:04:06.676
And that's what we work on healing.
00:04:06.977 --> 00:04:19.088
And then their homework is usually to practice EFT, to just keep self-regulating their daily challenges, their daily anxiety, the things that are still triggering them today.
00:04:19.088 --> 00:04:23.273
And it's really just an incredible process and it does work very quickly.
00:04:23.572 --> 00:04:34.547
It's my clients have quantum leaped forward in a few months faster than they had in years, going to therapy because we're not really sitting and talking.
00:04:34.675 --> 00:04:40.625
I'm not just listening, to their woes or their past, or it's really, how did it make you feel?
00:04:40.625 --> 00:04:45.516
And I don't even need to necessarily know the details, especially of traumatic events.
00:04:45.636 --> 00:04:46.776
I've worked with clients.
00:04:46.836 --> 00:04:51.386
I don't even know what the traumatic event was and we've wiped it out completely.
00:04:51.685 --> 00:04:55.975
So it's not that the image is gone or that the story is gone.
00:04:56.005 --> 00:04:58.076
There's just no attachment to it anymore.
00:04:58.375 --> 00:05:01.766
And sometimes there is a complete reframe of a perspective.
00:05:01.925 --> 00:05:04.819
I love that because I'm pretty transparent.
00:05:04.848 --> 00:05:18.139
I've done little bits of EFT and I've done lots of therapy throughout my lifetime but I do like this idea that not everything requires us to go relive the trauma in order to get to a solution.
00:05:18.288 --> 00:05:27.564
It's just something you learned as a child and so maybe there's some instances where reliving the trauma wouldn't actually help because you didn't know that it's really.
00:05:27.863 --> 00:05:28.733
Related to that.
00:05:28.733 --> 00:05:30.834
It's just related to something in the past.
00:05:30.838 --> 00:05:49.468
So when we do tapping, if we have incredibly intense emotions, you wanna just tap and take a deep breath on each point, but typically we say psychological phrases that pertain to whatever our issue is and that's what helps to wipe it out because you have to focus exactly on what your truth is in order to wipe it out completely.
00:05:49.709 --> 00:05:50.939
So you can't be on general.
00:05:50.939 --> 00:06:02.680
I have all this stress and really wipe out your event, or deep, traumatic situation that happened, you have to get specific on how it makes your body feel and the emotions that are attached to it.
00:06:02.680 --> 00:06:09.197
So what was your experience and like that you wanted to learn about EFT or what was your catalyst?
00:06:09.497 --> 00:06:15.627
I can remember back to being very young at three years old, where I felt forgotten by my parents.
00:06:15.798 --> 00:06:25.841
I'm always on a a journey of self development, so there's always layers that we're removing, but I've had incredible negativity, doubt and self judgment, in my mind.
00:06:26.141 --> 00:06:31.778
And it really came from my mom being critical and her parents and all sorts of things.
00:06:31.778 --> 00:06:49.007
So I didn't really have any major traumatic events, but I still grew up with an incredible amount of negativity and all of that caused anxiety in my body and me to form this defense mechanism around my energy, where you're not gonna hurt me.
00:06:49.033 --> 00:06:55.903
So I had this angry, bitter defensive kind of attitude about myself and I knew it wasn't serving me.
00:06:55.903 --> 00:06:58.752
And I was constantly on this journey of h ow do I change?
00:06:58.773 --> 00:06:59.403
How do I grow?
00:06:59.403 --> 00:07:00.603
How do I get rid of this?
00:07:00.903 --> 00:07:03.632
And it led me to becoming a yoga teacher.
00:07:03.632 --> 00:07:09.702
And then that led me to, I think I wanna become a coach and, help people heal the way that I've healed.
00:07:10.002 --> 00:07:17.202
And my first mentor slash coach did EFT tapping, and I had some incredible shifts with it.
00:07:17.233 --> 00:07:22.387
I started teaching it and offering it in-person workshops and then said this is my modality.
00:07:22.478 --> 00:07:30.875
I can go to other people and have energy healing done and, all sorts of intuitive sessions and do all the sound healing and all that stuff that I love too.
00:07:31.055 --> 00:07:34.536
But this is what I'm using for myself and in my practice.
00:07:34.805 --> 00:07:54.125
So I got certified and then accredited and then I started studying law of attraction with my coach and I found that o nce you do enough healing and you get yourself to a certain point where you have this space now, the energetic and the mental space to really be able to plan and think about your future.
00:07:54.196 --> 00:07:55.456
that's law of attraction.
00:07:55.521 --> 00:08:02.302
Getting into that, being able to tap in, anchor into that emotion, that's attached to what you really want in your life.
00:08:02.391 --> 00:08:12.276
So that's been the two worlds that I've married together and created my own five step signature process called the emotional heal, the emotional clearing method.
00:08:12.494 --> 00:08:19.723
I'm curious about that shift you made from I'm gonna go to yoga because you're seeking something, that makes you feel better.
00:08:19.723 --> 00:08:23.427
For you, you go to yoga and you go, okay, this starts to feel better.
00:08:23.728 --> 00:08:30.411
There's a process though, that happens when people start to finally search out a mentor or coach from that point.
00:08:30.461 --> 00:08:31.990
I can tell you my story really quickly.
00:08:32.150 --> 00:08:36.326
I was going on along my little spiritual journey, but I'm like something's still not quite.
00:08:36.350 --> 00:08:45.724
And it was a really accidental thing where it was actually the business world where I started to realize that there's coaches out there and what I found was you need different coaches at different times of your life.
00:08:45.787 --> 00:08:49.095
But mine was really accidental, I knew the coach from New Jersey.
00:08:49.154 --> 00:08:50.085
This is really funny.
00:08:50.235 --> 00:08:51.581
I moved to Kentucky.
00:08:51.822 --> 00:08:53.741
She ended up speaking in Texas.
00:08:54.042 --> 00:08:58.283
And when I went to Texas and realized that she should be my coach.
00:08:58.442 --> 00:09:01.201
I knew her for years in New Jersey.
00:09:01.206 --> 00:09:03.130
And I was like, this is what I'm missing.
00:09:03.130 --> 00:09:14.740
It took me going to an event where I went around other women who were higher vibration and I was like oh, this is what they do, because I was always felt why would I pay somebody to do what I could do for myself?
00:09:14.768 --> 00:09:19.620
That was the mindset that I was given or grew up with and around.
00:09:19.921 --> 00:09:23.221
So what was that for you that you went like oh.
00:09:23.400 --> 00:09:29.791
For me, it was being around women who I saw, who were happier, their businesses were going well.
00:09:30.091 --> 00:09:30.471
they were doing.
00:09:30.530 --> 00:09:33.051
And I was like, oh, there really is something else.
00:09:33.291 --> 00:09:37.610
I don't have to keep spinning my own wheels, trying to figure it out on my own.
00:09:37.668 --> 00:09:41.484
How did you realize that moment when you went, oh, I need something else?
00:09:41.484 --> 00:09:50.315
I've always been a seeker and I've always followed the bread crumbs of my intuition and I was a nail salon owner for 30 years.
00:09:50.615 --> 00:10:02.355
And because of being burnt out, that led me to practice yoga, which led me to become a yoga teacher and then start to really listen more to what my body needed self care wise.
00:10:02.504 --> 00:10:04.467
Yoga for me was more of a p hysical practice.
00:10:04.488 --> 00:10:08.932
Yes, there's absolutely a spiritual component to it, but it was really more of a physical practice for me.
00:10:09.133 --> 00:10:17.302
I was in my second advanced level yoga teacher training, and I knew in about one year I was going to just close my salon and move on.
00:10:17.602 --> 00:10:19.013
What was I going to do?
00:10:19.312 --> 00:10:23.663
And, I knew a life coach who trained people to become a life coach.
00:10:23.962 --> 00:10:33.442
And I called her and she said, I would just start researching, energy healing, all the stuff that you love in the alternative world and see what pops out to you.
00:10:33.469 --> 00:10:34.423
And so I did that.
00:10:34.724 --> 00:10:45.155
I started researching and I looked up in the job market, even though I wasn't looking for a job, I just looked on the job market, all sorts of alternative and holistic healing wellness.
00:10:45.456 --> 00:10:48.245
And I came up with a mind body medicine practitioner.
00:10:48.275 --> 00:10:50.076
There was an actual job for that.
00:10:50.235 --> 00:10:56.432
And even though I wasn't certified, I applied for it I was like, I'm just gonna push myself and apply for it anyway.
00:10:56.432 --> 00:11:01.570
They didn't call me, but it just got me in the energy of researching it.
00:11:01.809 --> 00:11:04.230
Oh how do you become a mind body medicine practitioner?
00:11:04.291 --> 00:11:09.750
Oh, you can actually get a degree in it at a college, but I ended up finding Dr.
00:11:09.750 --> 00:11:12.541
Kim Deramo who's my first mentor slash coach.
00:11:12.750 --> 00:11:19.124
She was doing a four and a half day workshop up Massachusetts on mind body medicine.
00:11:19.124 --> 00:11:22.845
And I literally got the catalog in the mail, opened it up right to the page.
00:11:22.894 --> 00:11:28.683
I would say all of my breadcrumbs are always like synchronistic that way, all meant to be in my lap.
00:11:28.833 --> 00:11:29.974
So I went.
00:11:30.274 --> 00:11:40.875
There I really learned that a lot of my mental negativity, mental warfare, all this emotional clutter I use those words is all about me not feeling enough.
00:11:41.174 --> 00:11:44.565
And this whole group, there was about 20 or so of us in this group.
00:11:44.745 --> 00:11:47.174
And she focused a lot on that.
00:11:47.475 --> 00:11:55.335
So I started weaving that theme into my yoga classes and then started teaching workshops on, I am enough helping people to increase their worthiness.
00:11:55.634 --> 00:11:59.274
And honestly, every single one of my clients has that.
00:11:59.575 --> 00:12:05.695
It's the bottom layer of every problem is some sort of, I'm not worthy.
00:12:05.695 --> 00:12:06.534
I don't matter.
00:12:06.534 --> 00:12:07.434
I'm not good enough.
00:12:07.434 --> 00:12:09.595
I'm not doing enough, something like that.
00:12:09.894 --> 00:12:12.059
And that's you know how I found it.
00:12:12.210 --> 00:12:17.283
That is so funny because the first thing that I worked with my coach was I am worthy.
00:12:17.583 --> 00:12:20.073
That was the first greatest like lesson that I learned.
00:12:20.073 --> 00:12:27.559
I was like, I has no idea that I was telling myself I wasn't and I couldn't figure out why life wasn't panning out in any area.
00:12:27.659 --> 00:12:35.408
Not that it was Terrible, but it felt like an uphill battle whether it was money or relationship, it just felt like this uphill, constant battle.
00:12:35.418 --> 00:12:37.668
So I love that was your first Lesson.
00:12:37.697 --> 00:12:38.537
And you're right.
00:12:38.567 --> 00:12:39.706
It's always a catalyst.
00:12:39.783 --> 00:12:43.293
And I think when you think of law of attraction, there's that idea of lack.
00:12:43.321 --> 00:12:46.240
And I'm not worthy is part of that lack mindset.
00:12:46.390 --> 00:12:51.481
So let me ask you this then, this is for female entrepreneurs, which you are one of them.
00:12:51.631 --> 00:13:00.926
For those who are new to law of attraction and this idea of EFT I think sometimes there's this idea that once you get into law of attraction, you're never gonna have a negative thought.
00:13:00.926 --> 00:13:03.115
You're never gonna have a problem in the world.
00:13:03.265 --> 00:13:06.706
I'd love to know how now that you have experienced doing.
00:13:07.005 --> 00:13:08.296
And you're teaching others.
00:13:08.347 --> 00:13:10.658
How do you handle that when it comes up?
00:13:10.729 --> 00:13:12.006
Do you catch it quicker?
00:13:12.006 --> 00:13:20.551
What are those things that you can say oh, this is starting to go into a negative swing because I think what happens too entrepreneurs we're like, oh, everything's great.
00:13:20.551 --> 00:13:23.280
And sometimes we still are in the circumstantial world of it.
00:13:23.581 --> 00:13:29.251
How do you get past it so that it still balances out whether circumstances are going right or not?
00:13:29.251 --> 00:13:34.443
You have to have your own toolkit and you have to know what works for you.
00:13:34.470 --> 00:13:40.279
So if something doesn't go my way, say for example female entrepreneurs.
00:13:40.284 --> 00:13:44.192
We can just use if you don't sign a client, what does that mean for you?
00:13:44.251 --> 00:13:47.822
If you don't sign the client, is it that you're not valuable enough?
00:13:48.121 --> 00:13:49.495
Is it, you're charging too much?
00:13:49.794 --> 00:13:51.865
Where are you second guessing yourself?
00:13:52.164 --> 00:13:57.144
That's the piece that I help my clients through is you second guess yourself?
00:13:57.445 --> 00:13:58.914
I don't necessarily market.
00:13:59.025 --> 00:14:02.056
Increasing your worthiness because people don't know that.
00:14:02.056 --> 00:14:03.586
I didn't know that I felt unworthy.
00:14:03.586 --> 00:14:05.519
K new I was second guessing myself though.
00:14:05.562 --> 00:14:10.139
It really wasn't until somebody pointed it out to me, see all these, all the same trigger.
00:14:10.139 --> 00:14:20.279
The same things were triggering me, in my world, in my relationships and that's where it was pointed out to me that I needed to look at those behaviors.
00:14:20.340 --> 00:14:29.580
So once you understand where the second guessing started, where it came from, what the root cause of it is.
00:14:29.879 --> 00:14:34.529
Then when you are triggered, you can say from a very curious place.
00:14:34.830 --> 00:14:35.970
Oh yep.
00:14:36.149 --> 00:14:36.840
There it is.
00:14:36.929 --> 00:14:37.799
There she is.
00:14:38.100 --> 00:14:40.049
There she is to trigger me again.
00:14:40.100 --> 00:14:43.850
There's my ego telling me oh, you can't do that, that's not safe.
00:14:43.850 --> 00:14:45.024
You might get judged.
00:14:45.323 --> 00:14:49.644
And you have to be able to shut that down.
00:14:49.943 --> 00:14:56.033
And go into the energy of still moving forward to whatever your goal is.
00:14:56.193 --> 00:15:04.063
There just has to be more of the law of attraction piece than the old pattern piece.
00:15:04.087 --> 00:15:15.275
And it takes practice because I was still in the old pattern piece, way more than I was in the law of attraction piece, for a long time now they are very close.
00:15:15.280 --> 00:15:16.760
There's like this nice balance.
00:15:17.061 --> 00:15:26.331
So there's way more of the law of attraction, vibe, energy, abundant feeling and things flowing in, then living in doubt and the old patterns.
00:15:26.631 --> 00:15:35.967
And when those creep in, I have the tools, and I still invest in myself with coaches, call my coach Hey, I'm having this, struggle with X, Y, Z.
00:15:35.982 --> 00:15:37.602
And she helps to talk me out of it.
00:15:37.602 --> 00:15:38.422
And, it can be.
00:15:38.721 --> 00:15:40.062
Anything that's going to help you shift.
00:15:40.062 --> 00:15:41.892
It could be put on fun dance music.
00:15:41.897 --> 00:15:43.241
It could be, go for a walk.
00:15:43.542 --> 00:15:48.243
It can be, call a friend, but whatever it is, don't avoid it.
00:15:48.543 --> 00:15:54.253
That's like the best advice is, do not avoid it because you're only gonna stay in the old pattern.
00:15:54.282 --> 00:15:55.511
I think that's really true.
00:15:55.511 --> 00:15:58.542
And this kind of boils back to this is that it's layers.
00:15:58.572 --> 00:16:03.576
I think that we continue no matter where we are, it's a journey, not a destination.
00:16:03.576 --> 00:16:10.166
So there's always gonna be a layer and it's not gonna always look the same, but it's still the same layer of the same.
00:16:10.316 --> 00:16:15.836
What I've learned from myself is that when I'm in my spinning I'm out of alignment and that's my ego talking.
00:16:16.135 --> 00:16:28.825
And when I'm really grounded and clear and focused, and in my body and living from a space of knowing who I am and an open heart and, feeling expansive, that's an alignment.
00:16:29.024 --> 00:16:36.774
So it's constantly listening and working from the head to the body or the head to the heart.
00:16:36.774 --> 00:16:37.418
Constantly.
00:16:37.508 --> 00:16:41.707
And that's the beautiful thing about EFT is it can quickly shift you from here.
00:16:41.857 --> 00:16:42.817
From the head to the body.
00:16:42.967 --> 00:16:44.535
Can you Go back to this quickly?
00:16:44.635 --> 00:16:45.926
EFT is tapping.
00:16:45.926 --> 00:16:50.250
And I know that there's certain points on the body and there is a mantra to it.
00:16:50.301 --> 00:16:52.610
Some people do it as a forgiveness mantra.
00:16:52.610 --> 00:16:55.457
Some people do it as affirmations.
00:16:55.607 --> 00:17:05.564
So a few things that I would say about tapping is that if you want to shift your energy you've gotta do the healing work first.
00:17:05.594 --> 00:17:08.775
Because if you try to say, oh I'm happy today.
00:17:08.775 --> 00:17:09.345
I'm great.
00:17:09.345 --> 00:17:15.105
I'm feeling great, but really inside your body, you're like, yeah, no, I'm not agreeing with that nothing's gonna shift for you.
00:17:15.164 --> 00:17:21.028
You might get like this, surge like a little sugar rush, for a very short period of time, but it's not going to last.
00:17:21.185 --> 00:17:24.183
So you have to do you know, healing the root.
00:17:24.483 --> 00:17:30.491
Then you can really use EFT with tapping in the positive affirmations and all of that.
00:17:30.491 --> 00:17:33.910
Typically we'll just use, unworthiness here.
00:17:34.210 --> 00:17:37.190
If you tap on the side of your hand, you wanna say.
00:17:37.490 --> 00:17:47.299
And even though psychological phrase that pertains to your issue three times, so it sets it into your subconscious and you add on an acceptance phrase.
00:17:47.299 --> 00:17:51.349
So you're accepting where you're at with whatever your issue is.
00:17:51.349 --> 00:17:56.361
So even though I'm feeling unworthy I'm just choosing to honor how I feel right now.
00:17:56.661 --> 00:18:02.246
And even though I'm feeling unworthy just choosing to love and accept myself and you would be, repeating.
00:18:02.292 --> 00:18:10.535
And then even though I'm feeling unworthy, I'm open to the possibility of, increasing my self esteem and confidence and trusting myself.
00:18:10.582 --> 00:18:13.219
And I'm just choosing to love myself through this process.
00:18:13.519 --> 00:18:16.848
And then you would tap on, I'm just feeling unworthy, right?
00:18:17.148 --> 00:18:17.898
Unworthy.
00:18:17.959 --> 00:18:19.128
Some people do both hands.
00:18:19.128 --> 00:18:20.419
I typically am a one hander.
00:18:20.719 --> 00:18:21.558
Unworthy.
00:18:21.679 --> 00:18:26.439
It's just gentle, tapping, unworthy, feeling unworthy under the collarbone.
00:18:26.499 --> 00:18:31.628
I like to do both hands here, feeling unworthy, and then under the arm feeling unworthy.
00:18:31.929 --> 00:18:35.576
And then you would check in how did that word resonate with you?
00:18:35.875 --> 00:18:37.268
Oh you know what it really is.
00:18:37.508 --> 00:18:40.778
I feel like I'm, I have this fear that I might be judged.
00:18:40.867 --> 00:18:41.724
Oh, okay.
00:18:41.724 --> 00:18:44.998
If that's more intense, then the worthiness piece.
00:18:45.087 --> 00:18:47.875
All right let's go over there and then let's wipe that out.
00:18:48.174 --> 00:18:57.695
And then I always ask people to tap into how, where is the unworthiness maybe in your body or this fear of being judged, in lodged in your body somewhere.
00:18:57.996 --> 00:18:59.796
Some people might say, I don't know.
00:19:00.096 --> 00:19:07.213
Some people say there's a heaviness in my shoulders, or there's a tenseness or gripping, in my body or my throat feels blocked.
00:19:07.263 --> 00:19:11.733
So this usually would be, you have a fear of expressing yourself or being vulnerable.
00:19:12.034 --> 00:19:15.213
The tightness in your chest is maybe where anxiety shows up for you.
00:19:15.483 --> 00:19:19.144
Maybe there's something in your solar plexes, which is like the upper belly.
